Solvent extraction technique is used for determining different components of products derived from agriculture, industry or contained in environmental samples. Soxhlet extraction is one of the most widely used analytical techniques. During the past years, it has been slightly altered in different aspects, in some cases in the attempt to increase the temperature of the solvent coming into contact with the mixture to be extracted in order to cut the extraction time. The modifications introduced by American chemist Edward L. Randall are some of the most effective for this purpose. Velp Scientifica solvent extractor SER 148 operates according to the Randall technique.
