Kjeldahl Digestion Units
The digester is a widely used instrument in laboratories performing nitrogen analysis for diversified applications in food&feed, beverage, environmental, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Kjeldahl analysis is definitely the most common technique for performing nitrogen and protein determination for diversified applications in food&feed, beverage (nitrogen, protein, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen), environmental (COD, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen), chemical and pharmaceutical (organic nitrogen) industries, according to a variety of Standards (such as AOAC, ISO, EPA, DIN etc.).
The first step is the Kjeldahl digestion. The goal is to break down the bonds that hold the polypeptides together and convert them into simpler molecules (such as water, carbon dioxide and ammonia). These reactions can be speeded up by the temperature used during digestion (the higher the temperature used, the faster the digestion can be obtained) and by the presence of acid, salt and catalysts.
During the digestion (Kjeldahl, digestions with nitric acid, sulphuric acid or percloric acid) corrosive toxic gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO2) and sulfur trioxide (SO3) are evolved.
With the objective of neutralizing such gases, VELP Scientifica proposes a dedicated pump, able to aspirate gases and vapours, and a scrubber, to neutralize toxic fumes that are produced during the mineralization process.
Automatic Kjeldahl Digestion Units - DKL SeriesFully Automatic Kjeldahl Digestion Units for nitrogen analysis and protein determination that incorporate the revolutionary TEMS™ technology for unprecedented Savings in terms of Time, Energy - as much as 35%, Money and Space. |

Kjeldahl Digestion Units - DK SeriesTraditional Kjeldahl Digestion Units for nitrogen analysis and protein determination, with an aluminum heating block that offers an excellent thermal homogeneity, with a maximum working temperature of 450 °C. |
|
Recirculating Water Pump - JPRecirculating Water Pump that ensures optimum aspiration depending on the digestion phases and the number of samples placed in the digester connected to the pump. |
|
Scrubber - SMSDesigned to neutralize corrosive and toxic fumes produced during oxidative mineralizations or similar processes.
