Velp Scientifica strengthens its sustainability commitment with EcoVadis and the new photovoltaic system

Sustainability is more than a buzzword: at Velp Scientifica, it is a tangible journey built on everyday actions and responsible choices. This commitment has recently been recognised with the EcoVadis Bronze Medal, highlighting the company’s ongoing efforts to contribute to a more responsible future.

A holistic approach to sustainability

EcoVadis is one of the world’s most trusted sustainability rating providers, having assessed more than 130,000 companies globally. Achieving the Bronze Medal places Velp Scientifica among the most responsible organisations, showcasing concrete actions taken to embed sustainability into daily operations and long-term corporate strategy.

The EcoVadis assessment is based on 21 criteria grouped into four key pillars:

The methodology draws on internationally recognised standards such as the UN Global Compact, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and ISO 26000, ensuring a rigorous, transparent and globally aligned framework.

The Bronze Medal reflects Velp’s continuous efforts to reduce environmental impact, promote ethical practices, safeguard people and human rights, and work responsibly with suppliers and partners across the value chain.

Concrete data, real-life examples

To further reduce our environmental impact, we have installed a new photovoltaic system, monitored through a dedicated app. This technology allows us to track energy production and translate environmental savings into tangible indicators: cumulative energy production, emissions avoided, virtually planted trees and barrels of oil saved.

Sustainability becomes more meaningful when numbers translate into everyday experiences:

CO₂ emissions avoided
Each month, we save enough energy to charge 100,000 smartphones and prevent approximately 3 tonnes of CO₂ from being released into the atmosphere.

Virtually planted trees
Thanks to solar energy, it is as if we were planting 135 new trees every month in our company garden. To absorb the same amount of CO₂, an oak tree would need around three years. We achieve it in just one month.

Barrels of oil saved
We have saved the equivalent of 6–7 full tanks of fuel for a compact car. For about one week each month, our energy demand requires nothing from the planet.
