The Fluorine Absorber (A00000456) is suitable for samples with fluorine compounds (e.g. teflon) since fluorine attacks the catalyst reducing its life. It has to be added in the reactor over the catalyst, approximately 2 cm. The 15 g bottle is enough to perform about 4 combustion reactors.

The Vanadium pentoxide (A00000457) permits improved sulfur combustion in particular samples (e.g. soils, lubricants). It has to be added directly to the tin foil with the sample. The amount of this powder depends on the characteristics of the sample: it is suggested to start using 1/3 of the sample weight; then increase the amount if the combustion is not satisfactory.
